About Us

My name is Jennifer Aftanas and I live on nature's edge in Nanaimo on beautiful central Vancouver Island. My hobbies include golf (actually an addiction), windsurfing, mountain biking and living with ridgebacks. I'm honoured to be a founding member of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Canada and have been fortunate enough to have chosen a ridgeback for show, sport and life. As the official dog of South Africa rich in history and heritage these beautiful creatures can't help but win your heart. Many will tell you.... Once you own a ridgeback you never can go back so be careful..... they seem to multiply !

 

Rhaya was my first ridgeback. I spent several years admiring ridgebacks in magazines and books and when the day came to pick up my pup I was overwhelmed with tears of joy. Rhaya pronounced (rIya) was exactly what we wanted, a girl with lots of substance and a pretty face. She was originally bought as a pet for mountain biking but after a couple of months we were encouraged to show her and she picked up a whole set of points at her first show in the Capital. It didn't take long and she became a champion.
